In my "Moneymaking Hints, Tips, and Ideas π‘ Part 1: Referral Marketing" tutorial, I describe to people new to Referral World how they likely have AT LEAST five or more apps they use regularly that offer refer-a-friend promotions. Last night, it dawned on me that I've been sitting on one of these apps for years... not just any app, but an app that I use heavily and has saved me money, prevented me from getting unwanted charges (and in one case scammed after a website breach)! That app is Privacy.
Privacy offers a web extension and phone app. It's free to use (and has a paid upgrade plan if you are interested; I've always used the free plan with no issues). Simply sign up, download the app or extension, and attach your bank. Doing this allows you to create virtual cards on the fly, which is invaluable when signing up for new apps, sites, trials, etc. Privacy gives you full control over each virtual card you create, such as setting one-time-use or a maximum monthly or total limit, pausing or closing a card, and more.
I have recommended this to everyone I know in the Real World (outside of Referral World) because it's a must-have for anybody making online transactions. And it gets even better because Privacy has a signup and referral bonus promotion! When you sign up, you'll get $5 that's automatically applied to your first purchase with your Privacy virtual card! And you'll get a $5 referral bonus for every person who signs up through you and redeems their signup bonus!
Another perk is that Privacy has flown under Referral World's radar all the time I've been actively referring. It's an app I never see promoted which means huge referral earnings potential!

In one of the referral groups I admin, someone posted this morning advertising $20-$45 bonuses from One Finance (instead of the standard $20 signup/referral promo) One Finance has been offering the past couple of months. While the referrer was less than helpful when I asked them for more details, apparently taking offense that I'd have the audacity to question them, I reached out to One Finance support for more info. At first, the agent wasn't aware of this extra $25 bonus either. Thankfully, the agent researched further and confirmed that some members are getting the $20 signup bonus AND the $25 setup bonus promotion. If you have One Finance, you'll want to check your app to see if you have this additional bonus opportunity, as it looks like a targeted offer, YMMV. Old, Defunct, Unused Apps Still Pulling Bank Data!
Have you signed up for any banking and/or financial apps over the years and connected your bank to the app through Plaid or a similar method? If so, you may want to log into your primary bank account(s) and review what apps are still pulling your bank data. I did this today while attempting to disconnect Guac, an app I signed up for that I'm testing. I was shocked to find that not only did I have over 40 active connections to apps I've signed up for over the years, but several of them were still retrieving my bank data up through this morning! Apps like Times Club, Zingaroo, Apollo, Millions, Superpay, Bumped, and more. Apollo, Bumped, and Millions are all defunct, having shut down in the past 1-2 years. The others (and more) have either closed my account, or I haven't opened or used the app for several months or longer. Yet, they all have accessed my bank data within the past few days/weeks. 
I can't think of any legitimate reason these apps would continue pulling data months or even years after the apps shut down (or I stopped using them entirely). Are they harvesting/selling our data, or conducting more nefarious activity? I can only speculate at this point. Whatever the reasons, I personally don't want to be tracked by these apps. I've already gone into my bank settings and selected "Stop Sharing Data." If you feel the same, I encourage you to review the apps connected to your bank and disable/remove any you're no longer using. In the Chase Bank app, you can review these connections through Profile & Settings (top right, avatar) > Settings > Security & privacy > Linked apps & websites. Other banks may have this in a different area of the app/site.
Varo Lowers Bonuses from $30 to $25

After months of increased $30 signup and referral bonuses, Varo lowered the bonuses down to $25 on 4/12/24. As a reminder, Varo limits members to five referral bonuses per calendar year, per their terms. Unofficially, I've been told by members of Referral World in the past that while this is the official rule, these members found they were able to earn referral bonuses again - after having maxed out their calendar year bonuses - when Varo changed the amounts/promotions. Guac - $5 Signup and Referral Bonuses (TESTING)
I just signed up for Guac, another app that's starting to make waves in Referral World. It looks similar to Grifin, which recently went viral, except it's not stock-based. Guac lets you set savings goals and rules; once you do and connect a funding source (bank or credit card), Guac adds a portion of your purchases to your Guac savings (similar to "round-up" features your bank may offer).
Guac has a $5 signup and $5 referral bonus right now. To earn:
Download the app and sign up for Guac's free membership
Connect your bank and create a savings rule and savings goal
Verify your email
Complete your first savings (by making purchases, etc.)
During signup, I was asked if I wanted to deposit from my bank into Guac. I skipped this deposit step, and I might just be missing it but I can't figure a way to add $1+ in my savings in the app. I will be reaching out to support, but it looks like I might have to make a purchase from my connected bank for Guac to add money to my savings (and trigger the signup bonus). You may want to deposit $1+ during signup to trigger the signup bonus more quickly.
Since I just signed up today, I'm unsure how quickly the bonuses will be awarded. I consider this to be TESTING and will provide updates as I learn them.
