I have always enjoyed writing and playing around with words and I initially found it easier to write about events in my life rather than try and develop an idea from scratch so most of my early stories are based upon real episodes. Having been fortunate enough to have had two very interesting careers during my working life, I was able to delve into my past and write firstly, about events that happened during my teaching career, and secondly, about events that occurred when I was employed as a Production Planning Manager.
Having always been a keen sportsman and willing to have a crack at almost any activity, I was able to come up with several sporting-based stories as well. Once the creative juices began to flow, (and I’d run out of interesting ideas from my life), I began writing serial stories which were often based on a single idea or something ludicrous that I’d read about in the newspaper. An example of this was where a policeman didn’t walk into a flooded ditch to rescue a dog because he hadn’t yet received his gumboot training. “There’s a story somewhere in there,” I thought.
Now, if you enjoy my writing style, and you’re thinking, “Why didn’t he write a proper book?” the good news is that I have. It’s called Memories to Die For and is available from most good bookshops.
