I'm incredibly excited to share that Spotify Dedup has just received its biggest update ever.
For years, this tool has been the "gold standard" for keeping your Spotify library clean. But I know that for many of you—especially the power users and "metadata purists" among us—there was one feature that was consistently at the top of the wishlist. You wanted more control. You wanted to decide exactly how duplicates are found and which version of a song to keep.
I've been listening. And today, I'm delivering.
Complete Control Over Your Library
The deduplication logic has been completely revamped. You are no longer stuck with a "one size fits all" approach. You can now customize:
Matching Method: Choose between strict ID-only matching or the classic fuzzy matching (same title, artists, and similar and now configurable duration).
Version Preservation: This is the big one. You can now tell the tool to keep the oldest added track (preserving that precious "Date Added" timestamp!) or the newest one.
Persistence: Your preferences are saved on your device, so you don't have to re-configure them every time you visit.
I just finished testing the latest version of your duplicate detection tool for Spotify, and I’m really impressed with the improvements! The advanced features you added are working perfectly—they now catch even more duplicates, and with much higher accuracy than before.
Safer and clearer
Cleaning up a massive library can be scary. I’ve added several safety nets and transparency features:
Review Before You Remove: You now get a clear overview of which tracks are considered "key" (kept) and which are duplicates (removed).
External verification: Added direct links to open playlists and tracks in Spotify, so you can double-check everything before pulling the trigger.
Confirmation Modals: No more accidental clicks. A new modal ensures you really want to delete those tracks.
Bulk Actions: For those who are absolutely sure, there's now an option to delete all identified duplicates from all playlists in one go.
A Fresh Coat of Paint & Better UX
The entire experience has been polished:
Responsive Design: The donation modal and other interface elements now adapt better to small screens.
User Avatar: Your avatar now appears in the header, making it instantly clear which account you are cleaning.
Navigation: Fixed pesky issues when switching between languages.
By the Numbers
I also added a new Statistics page where you can see the usage of this tool.
Just for some trivia: together, we are removing up to 200,000 songs a day. To put that in perspective: that’s equal to more than 500 days of continuous listening deleted every single day! 🤯
