Warminster Town Ladies Pre-season vs Bath City Women

Aug 07, 2023

I travelled over to Bath Sunday for Warminster Town Ladies third pre-season friendly against Bath City Women.

Bath City Women are a fledging side after being formed last season. Playing their games at Bath City FCs home at the beautifully old School ground at Twerton Park. They achieved Promotion from the Somerset County Women's League to the South West Regional Women's League Division 1 East.

Warminster will be fighting it out in their fourth league in four seasons since their inception back in 2020, having gained back to back promotions from the Wilts County League up to the SWRWFL Premier Division at Step 5. They've moved across this season to the Southern Regional Women's league, joining the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Ascot United and Eastleigh!

With glorious sun shining Warminster kicked off the match. It was a fairly slow start from both sides but chances started to come towards the end of the first half. Warminster arguably had the better opportunities, forcing the City keeper into a couple of important saves. It was the lower League hosts who would take the lead though. Practically on the stroke of Half Time, Hari Sabic put City ahead.

Warminster came out much stronger in the second half however and started showing their higher league quality, and soon the chances came thick and fast!
After a few near misses, the visitors finally converted, Centre Back Jazz Harris with a smart low driven strike from 18 yards.
Warminster doubled their advantage just 7 minutes later, Harris again, nodded home from close range from a flicked on Corner.
Warminster's come back was completed on 77 minutes as Sammy Kirk headed home from another corner.

1-3 to Warminster the final score and could've been a lot more in the second half.
