About jfksideas
a group of student activists committed to changing the conversation!
The IDEAS Club at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin, Germany was born of the demand that in our time of crises, in our Age of Anxiety, when democracy is fragile, when intolerance is increasingly tolerated, we must intensify our efforts to create a safe but challenging space to discuss and celebrate diversity.
We challenge stereotypes, grapple with our biases, and tackle tough issues.
We have weekly meetings, bi-weekly podcasts, and quarterly journals.
We conduct lessons and seminars in elementary, middle, and high school classes.
Our efforts seek to promote not mere tolerance, but respect. Not mere discussion, but empathic dialogue. Not mere lip service, but service to our community.

Heyo! We just recorded a new podcast episode on Disability Sensitivity and Awareness. Super important yet complicated topic. We discussed an article about avoiding ableist tropes and then talked about ableism at JFKS. Can't wait for you to hear it! ~Podcast Team

Check out part 1 and 2 of the podcast on this year's JFKS "Spectrum of Discrimination" event. Both episodes drop on Thursday, 9th of June. The first question we asked students was "Have you ever experienced/witnessed discrimination at JFKS?". The second question was "What can JFKS do better to combat discrimination". Can't wait for you to hear it!
