Hello friend,
This newsletter is arriving a day later than my usual Sunday missive.
I could tell you that this was a carefully considered creative choice, aligned with the phases of the moon and the rhythms of the season.
In reality, life happened - this week's routine got knocked off course by SoGreenFest on Saturday.
Quite honestly, that feels quite fitting for this week's theme.
The last few weeks have been busy. Full of people, projects, conversations, gardens, weather, plans, unexpected turns and all the other things that make up an actual life as opposed to a curated social media feed.
The newsletter sat patiently on my to-do list all week, while I did my best impression of a person trying to be in several places at once.
So here we are, late by one day but still on course.
I think there is probably a lesson in that somewhere.
The garden continues to be both a delight and a mild source of existential reflection. Things are growing everywhere, the pond is alive with damselflies (Sir Issac Newt has not been spotted for a while) and the vegetables in 'the farm' are doing their thing whilst the weeds are doing their thing with even greater enthusiasm.
Nature never seems particularly concerned with schedules, everything happens when it happens.
I've been thinking a lot about that recently.
There is so much pressure, especially for creative people and particularly neurodivergent creative people, to be consistent and constantly creating, yet so much of creativity seems to happen in cycle
There are weeks of making and weeks of gathering, times to be making and times to be noticing. I think paying attention is a creative practice in its own right.
