This Past Week
Last week, Dr. Stefi Cohen, who has a fight scheduled for December 26, was featured on a poster for a card in the Dominican Republic this month. Check out the story.

Benny Sinakin had a fight scheduled for November 27 but is now off the card. Here's the article.

Mor Oknin is scheduled to fight on November 18. He and David Alaverdian have fought exclusively in Mexico. Here's the story.

Upcoming
David Alaverdian was interviewed by Mike Orr for his show Knuckle Up. I'm working on an article about David that will drop this week.

This year, The JBB profiled Nat Arno and reviewed the novel Newark Minutemen and the audio book The Minuteman. As a follow up, I'm working on a profile of Max "Puddy" Hinkes, another Jewish boxer from Newark, New Jersey who fought against American Nazis in the 1930s. I'm not sure when that will be finished, but something to keep an eye out for. Puddy Hinkes loved beating up Nazis like a kid savors ice cream, so I hope it's interesting.

Schedule
Isaac Chilemba is scheduled to fight Pavel Silyagin on November 12 in Moscow, Russia. Here is background on the fight. I'll have a preview next week.

Fight Prediction
Canelo-Plant
Super middleweight Caleb Plant has fast hands and quick feet. He's skilled and athletic and will be competitive early against Canelo Alvarez. We don't really know enough about Plant's chin though. Though he holds a world title belt, he has been moved along slowly, so he hasn't been in a tough fight yet. Canelo is a giant step up for Plant. Incidentally, I rate Alvarez on the top of my pound-for-pound list.

Canelo can fight effectively in different styles, but pressuring Plant will probably be his chosen one. That pressure will wear down Plant. Canelo has really improved his ability to cut off the ring. He's got a great chin and much improved defense. He hits hard and makes in-fight adjustments. I feel strongly that Canelo will beat Plant and if I had to pick how, I'd say he'll win by KO at some point between the 8th & 10th.

Social Media
The Jewish Boxing Blog is on Twitter. Follow @JewishBoxing. Since September, the Twitter account has included important dates in Jewish boxing history. A highlight from last week: The legendary Hall of Famer Ted "Kid" Lewis was born on October 28, 1893. I also live tweet fights involving Jewish boxers whenever possible and include links to JBB articles and any other relevant ones.

The JBB is also on Instagram. Follow @JewishBoxing. The JBB joined Instagram a lot more recently than Twitter, so this is still a work in progress.

Until next week...
