What Is Intuition?

What Is Intuition?

Nov 12, 2024

Intuition is a beautiful, subtle thread connecting us to a deeper wisdom, a guiding voice that speaks to us from the space between our own thinking. Imagine it as the quiet music playing underneath the chatter of your everyday mind—a whisper from your true self, that part of you connected to something beyond thought, beyond the constant hum of the mind.

When we talk about intuition, we’re really talking about the thoughts that arise when we’re “in-tune” with our inner self, the spiritual essence that animates the human experience. We’re each, in essence, both human and spirit—a consciousness inhabiting a physical body, learning, growing, and creating meaning here. This spirit, our true self, is ever-connected to the “source,” the infinite field of wisdom that lies beyond our individual experience.

Most of the time, our minds are filled with mechanical thoughts—automated reactions, opinions, and mental noise generated by habit, past experiences, and what we’ve absorbed from the world around us. These thoughts often loop in predictable patterns, leading us to think we’re bound by our circumstances or past. But intuition slips in between these thoughts. It’s quieter, subtle, and often feels like a gentle nudge, a sense of calm certainty, or a flash of insight that seems to “come out of nowhere.”

Tuning into intuition is like tuning a radio to the right frequency. We do this by quieting the mind, by practicing presence. Through meditation, mindful breathing, or simply pausing to notice the present moment, we create the space for intuition to flow through. In this calm space, we’re better able to hear that guidance—the soft voice of our inner self steering us towards what aligns with our true nature.

Intuition doesn’t demand proof or logical steps. It’s the wisdom of the heart and spirit speaking, asking us to trust that there’s more to our knowing than meets the eye. When you follow your intuition, you’re aligning with the life your higher self, your spiritual self, came here to create. So the next time you feel that gentle nudge or a thought that doesn’t seem to follow a logical path but feels “right,” recognize it as more than just a passing thought. It’s your inner self, reminding you of the bigger picture, guiding you to act from a place of alignment with your true purpose.

Trust it. Nurture it. And watch as your life begins to unfold in harmony with the deepest part of who you are.
