A Year Ago Today - Instacart

Mar 18, 2021

A year ago today, I continued upon a new journey I had begun, delivering groceries for Instacart, during the pandemic. I officially began on March 16th. I did a quick trial run, to see if I would like it, and if it was do-able, a quick run to Stewart Leonard. I liked the process, I didn't like the store, the lay-out. It's cool, as an individual, to shop at Stewart Leonard, but to shop for a customer, no.

By this time last year, I was in a groove. I had gone to Locust Valley Market, not realizing the distance. Ooohhh wee. It was an interesting time, as I reflect on where we are now, and where we were then, in the initial stages of Covid-19. Now, there are hundreds of thousands of deaths across the country and around the world, I believe it is in the millions. But, on a personal level, I personally know people who have passed away due to Covid-19.

First, was Pastor Dorothy W. Lewis (Love Gospel Assembly), then Merlene, Mel (LGA), Shamel (Bride of Christ), Mr. Leonard Perry (next door). It was crazy, a sweep. Scary, but I wasn't scared. I decided to get out there, and help out where I could. I needed to be on the move, and was able to do so.

Joey had recently let me get his wheel, so I put them to motion. Yet, he said: "I didn't give it (car) to you for that." So, yeah, there was that. Nevertheless, that what I used it for, plus going to the track, just about everyday when I started, towards the end of June.

Whew, what a difference a year makes!
