It's Time for a Leap

It's Time for a Leap

Mar 14, 2024

I jump. I take a quick look over the edge and just do it. Go.

Time is a thief. It's going to pass by me whether I chase my dreams or not.

I am moving to a small town, heading back to community living. The house is in a dreamy setting and I'm looking forward to settling in.

This morning, I closed on this beautiful old home in a small, country town. It has charm and history and a lot of original woodwork. It has been loved and I plan to carry on that tradition. I fell in love with it the moment I stepped into its embrace.

It rained steadily all day long, but the rain was not once an annoyance. I barely felt a drop.

I took a walk through my new home and began to think of how to arrange things. As I entered each room I thought about paint colors, where to put the bed, the pianos (yes, plural), and how to decorate.

I stopped in at the town clerk's office to take over utilities. While doing that I had the most lovely conversation with two women who live and work in the town. I was provided some valuable information, made to feel welcome, validated, not alone, and genuinely cared-for. As we were chatting one of them mentioned the local library hosts a book club once a month. Right now they are discussing a book that I am in the middle of reading right now! How's that for kismet? I remember I had rolled my eyes at having to go in person to take over water service, but what a perfect policy to welcome new community members into the heart (literally and figuratively) of the town. I am grateful for the time I had with those women today.

Just before I left, I realized I had not asked the women's names when I arrived. I asked, and one of them gently said her name was Linda. The other said brightly, "I'm Hope!" I teared up and said, "Of course you are! You are Hope!" It was a beautiful moment, especially after our heartfelt conversation.

So begins a dream to chase. My dream is to live happily ever after. Today was a beautifully memorable step.

It is time for a leap! Look - and GO!
