We the people
Once were words
That held meaning
Now relegated
As a footnote for most
Forsaking as an axiom
On which this nation stands

Us and them
Is a poison growing
Given by red and blue
And left or right
Going to extremes
Feeding a madness
Where reason is lost

Lies and falsehoods
Bring on insanity
Where neighbors and
Family are held suspect
Only those who hold
To the same mantra
Are seen as allies

So many now drink
From a tainted well
Ignoring conscience
Poisoning their minds
With the vitrial put forth
By conmen and tyrants
Echoed by media and bots

None see consequences
The actions and words
Will bring upon us all
As we stray from democracy
Take to following fools
Who have led many astray
