Neither the science nor the philosophy is stinted, and the interpersonal relations can get devious and intense, so though there is plenty of action, this is a thoughtful novel better suited to those with minds.
I recommend this book because it teaches about people and diversity, is fun to read and has the right proportions of science fiction, romance, and drama.
Best of all are the people and their complicated relationships that we see up close and personal.
Viewed as science fiction, it's a strong piece of work, very much in the tradition of the early Heinlein. Purely on this basis I feel sure the book will find an enthusiastic readership. It's exciting, it keeps moving and it resolves very nicely.
Read as inspirational fiction, though, Alouette's Song really shines.
[Note: Alouette's Song is the prior title and cover release for Alouette's Galaxy.]
