Don't miss our new release today, a performance of the primary choreography in Mohiniyattam, Cholkettu, at the Indian Temple during the monsoon showers. Indian classical dances have a certain repertoire - Margam. It is a combination of 6-7 pieces in a certain sequence. The first dance to open the performance is Cholkettu (Cholu means the rhythmical syllable such as Tha, Dhi , Thaaa), which is a dance that focuses on movement, rhythm, and blessing the audience and the stage. The dance also has a few lines which narrate the qualities of the deities praised in the dance. This Cholkettu starts by worshipping a goddess - Devi and concludes with praising Shiva.
