On July 25, I wrote that I was still building while waiting for a renewed residence card in Poland. Since then, the contradiction has become more concrete: the pressure is no longer abstract. It is rent.
After the 2020 events in Belarus, I received international protection in Poland. I still have the legal right to live and work here. But the card itself has to be renewed every two years, and this time I have been waiting almost four months instead of the usual one.
That delay has real consequences. My programming contract was not extended because the work involved private data and required a current physical card. Uber also blocked my ability to work, even though my legal right to work here is real.
So this is where things stand now: I need to cover rent for the previous and current month, plus media, and that gap is now the most immediate threat to my stability in Kraków.
