Where can we find you right now and what are you up to?
We are the rock band “The Lazy Dayz” and we come from Hildesheim (near Hanover) in Germany. We simply call our songs rock music in order not to be squeezed into certain categories. If you want to narrow it down a little further, a mixture of american rock'n roll, hard rock, blues rock spiced with ingredients from country, gospel and stoner rock would be appropriate. We released our first album "Welcome To The Rodeo" in May 2021. At the moment we are playing a few live concerts locally to promote our new album "Poems For A Post-Fact World". And we're already working on new songs!
Tell us a bit about your influences.
The musical roots can be found in the 60's and 70's. Bands like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers or the early AC/DC can certainly be named as huge influences. But also newer bands influence the band, e.g. Rival Sons, Marilyn Manson, Red Hot Chilli Peppers or The Pretty Reckless. Of course we could list many other bands from different genres here, but that would go beyond the scope. From all these influences we create our very own style and offer powerful rock songs with catchy refrains and hooklines.
How did you start?
The Lazy Dayz was originally formed as a two-man side project by Drummer Sascha and Lead Guitarist Tony, who ran a band at that time. As this band broke up in early 2019, Kiwi from the previous band also joined The Lazy Dayz. Shortly afterwards Timo joined the band on bass. Lead singer Ingo, with whom Sascha played in a band years ago, completed the line-up in September 2019.
What obstacles does an emerging artist have to face in our time?
It's very difficult to convince people that even smaller bands can make good music. Most people don't listen to bands like that, they just listen to what they know. The same applies to the radio. Nobody there really has time to deal with independent music. But we never give up!
What worked for you marketing-wise? What advice or tips would you give to new artists?
We have very good experience with Spotify. Many people complain about this platform, because you don't get a lot of money there, but for a small band from the boondocks like us, it's a very good opportunity to make your music known in other countries. We are now heard in around 70 countries, which would have required a record label 20 years ago! I recommend staying tuned and continuing to release new music. We also have a lot of fun filming videos and you can already see a lot of our stuff on YouTube!
What are your goals? Where do you see yourself in five years?
We have now released 2 albums and still have enough songs for at least 3 more albums. So we will continue to do our best and try to convince people of our music and hope that more and more people like it.
Tell us about your latest or upcoming release.
On September 1st In 2023 we released our second album "Poems For A Post-Fact World", in which we again invested a lot of effort. It contains 10 new songs, which are again very different, but still show our typical style. We try out a lot, but we always want people to recognize us. Our songs have both political and very personal lyrics and we attach great importance to a catchy chorus. All in all we are very happy with the new album. Be sure to give it a listen!
