Where can we find you right now and what are you up to?

I am in Venice right now, working as an Illustrator on commissions, studying painting and promoting my latest album.

How would you define success? What is your goal?

I think success for me at the moment is working on projects that do well enough in terms of audience appreciation, to justify work on new projects.

How did you start?

I started 20 years ago making music as a pass-time when I wasn't trying to get work as an Illustrator. I wrote songs and made albums on tapes that I would give to record shops to play in store.

What is a typical day in your life as an artist?

A lot of my day at the moment is taken up with our 8 month old daughter who is a magical creature. I tend to work on commissions and other stuff in small windows of time throughout the day.

What worked for you marketing-wise? What advice or tips would you give to new artists?

Making videos to go with singles has really helped and it has also been a really enjoyable part of the creative process that goes into making an album. I've been posting regularly on instagram about the album and reaching to magazines like this one.

What do you think of AI in music?

I think it's a side effect of an unhealthy interest in how fast we can change things without really understanding the potential negative consequences.

Tell us about your latest or upcoming release.

My new album is called 22. It is an album of songs about Love, War, Brexit, Anxiety and seeking solace in creativity. I recorded it in my studio in Hastings, UK over a period of about 6 months and it has been released on vinyl through Dirty Melody Records, who also released my last LP which was called Lights. I created all of the artwork for the LP including a foldout A2 poster that is indies the sleeve. The album is also available on all streaming services.
