21 Questions to Identify a Profitable Niche
While no niche is flawless, there are several factors to consider when choosing a niche for internet marketing. The key is to identify what resonates most with YOU within each niche.

Use the following 21 questions to assess whether a niche is right for you. Some questions focus on the profit potential, while others explore how easily you can reach your target audience daily. Additionally, some questions address the speed at which you can grow and establish yourself in a particular market.
If any niche does not appeal to you after this evaluation, feel free to remove it from your list. By the end, you should have a select few niches to consider. Remember, these 21 questions are just a starting point based on my experience in Internet marketing. Beyond personal interest and ethical comfort, I look for niches with profit potential, easy traffic generation, and rapid growth opportunities.
Question #1: Are there multiple products available in the niche?
First, assess whether there are numerous quality products in the niche. This is crucial to ensure you won't run out of appealing offers for your website visitors or email subscribers. If you're relying on commissions, it's essential to have several products to promote.
Question #2: How significant is the problem your prospects face?
If the niche isn't hobby-related, evaluate the severity of the problem your prospects are encountering. Is it substantial enough that they would spend money to find a solution? For example, people might pay for pain relief but may hesitate over less pressing issues.
Question #3: Are there potential Joint Venture partners for rapid growth?
Consider whether there are potential Joint Venture partners in the niche. Are they too large to collaborate with, or too small to be beneficial? Joint Venture deals can significantly accelerate business growth, so this is an important factor.
Question #4: Is building an email list viable in this niche?
Investigate whether other marketers are building email lists in this niche. It may be essential to establish a list to generate significant profits. Check your competitors for opt-in forms and experience their marketing strategies by joining their lists.
Question #5: How expensive is ad inventory in the niche?
Before diving into a new niche, examine the cost of reaching your target audience through paid traffic. Costs can vary significantly for keywords and URLs, especially on platforms like Google AdWords and CPV networks.
Question #6: Is generating free traffic easy in this niche?
Evaluate how accessible it is to reach your target audience through free methods. Use tools like the Google Keyword Tool to assess keyword competition, and investigate whether competitors are successfully using platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
Question #7: Are there high-priced products or services available?
Check if there are products or services priced at $1,000 or more. Niches with frequent high-ticket sales can be more profitable, as making one sale at a higher price is often easier than selling many low-cost items.
Question #8: Are there continuity programs like membership sites?
Continuity programs, such as membership sites or subscriptions, can provide consistent income. These are especially profitable if they fulfill ongoing customer needs, like web hosting or auto-responder services.
Question #9: How quickly do vendors pay commissions, & do they pay at all?
Be cautious of vendors who either delay payments or fail to pay altogether, as this can harm your business. Generally, it's best to work with affiliate programs on established networks like ClickBank, as they tend to have more reliable payment practices.
Question #10: Are exact match domains available?
While not essential, having an exact match domain can enhance your chances of ranking well in search engines. Use tools like GoDaddy Bulk Domain Register to check for available exact-match domains without purchasing them immediately.
Question #11: Could you create a product in this niche?
Creating your own product offers maximum leverage. This enables you to form partnerships and leverage affiliate marketers to drive traffic. If the niche requires a physical product you can’t create, consider digital products or private label rights materials.
Question #12: Will it be easy to establish authority in this niche?
Having your own product is an excellent way to build authority. Alternatively, you can partner with established figures or run a popular blog. Check if there are existing authority blogs in your niche to gauge potential for your own.
Question #13: Do you already have knowledge in this niche?
Entering a niche where you already possess some knowledge or expertise makes the process easier. You don't need to be an expert, but having a foundational understanding can help you share valuable insights.
Question #14: Are people spending money in this niche?
Popularity doesn’t guarantee profitability. Research bestseller lists to confirm that buyers are willing to spend money in your chosen niche. Avoid the common pitfall of selecting a popular but unprofitable niche.
Question #15: Is coaching being offered in this niche?
Coaching can be highly lucrative, with packages often priced in the thousands. If you excel at lead generation, you can either sell your own coaching services or generate leads for others.
Question #16: Are there Pay-per-lead offers available?
Promoting Pay Per Lead offers can often yield higher profits than Pay Per Sale offers. It's typically easier to get individuals to fill out forms than to make a purchase.
Question #17: Can you differentiate yourself in this niche?
Some niches are highly competitive, but that shouldn’t deter you. Determine how you can stand out, whether through unique positioning or expertise in a sub-niche.
Question #18: Are webinars or teleseminars common in this niche?
Webinars and teleseminars can be highly effective for sales. If these formats are prevalent in your niche, consider using or promoting them as an affiliate, as they generally have higher conversion rates.
Question #19: Are there call centers in this niche?
One-on-one phone selling can significantly boost conversion rates. However, exercise caution as some call centers may not be reputable. If present, leveraging phone sales can enhance your success.
Question #20: Is the niche related to Health, Wealth, or Relationships?
Niches focused on Health, Wealth, or Relationships tend to attract larger audiences. Products in these areas are often more profitable, and traffic potential is usually higher.
Question #21: Are there substantial search volumes in this niche?
Utilize the Google Keyword Planner to assess search volumes. Low traffic levels may indicate a lack of customers, making the niche less viable despite potentially low competition.
