Niche Research Newsletter #9 - 6 Places to Conduct Niche Research and Discover What’s Sell

Nov 30, 2024

Whenever I visit forums and see newcomers questioning whether there's money to be made online, I can’t help but shake my head. There are countless transparent shopping platforms that clearly display sales data and customer reviews, making it impossible to argue that online opportunities don't exist.

In this article, I’ll share six valuable resources to help you identify profitable niches and discover what products are currently selling online.

Niche Research Tool #1 - Amazon:

Amazon is an excellent resource for uncovering niche markets you may not have considered.

1- Select a Category: In the search dropdown, choose "Books" and hit “GO.”

2- Explore Topics: In the left-hand navigation column, browse through various book topics and select one that interests you. This will reveal more specific sub-topics.

3- Check Reviews: Look at the number of reviews to gauge market engagement. Higher review counts indicate an active market.

4- Analyze Titles: The titles you find can suggest potential sub-niches.

5- Sales Rankings: Click on a book cover and scroll down to the "Product Details" section to find the sales ranking. A lower number indicates higher sales.

Tip: Explore the Amazon Bestsellers list at amazon.com/gp/bestsellers.

Niche Research Tool #2 - eBay:

eBay provides valuable insights into current market demand.

1- Select a niche from the category dropdown menu to see the results.

2- Check the top 10 most popular searches and the top 5 largest stores within that category.

3- Pay attention to keywords that appear frequently and use the dropdown menu for a deeper exploration of your niche.

4- Make a list of relevant keywords.

For trending niches, visit eBay Pulse at pulse.ebay.com.

Niche Research Tool #3 - ClickBank Marketplace:

ClickBank is an amazing platform for identifying information products such as eBooks, audio, and video content.

1- Visit ClickBank and access the Marketplace.

2- Search using your niche keywords.

3- Look for affiliate products. The presence of multiple products in your niche suggests a viable market.

Niche Research Tool #4 - Dummies:

Dummies.com is one of my favorite places for niche research. If there’s a book on Dummies, it indicates that a problem has been identified and a solution proposed.

  • Browse through their titles in general niches that interest you and jot down potential eBook topics.

Using these resources means you benefit from research that has already been conducted and paid for.

Niche Research Tool #5 - Article Directories:

When exploring article directories, compile a comprehensive list of potential topics. If a topic generates at least 5,000 searches per month, you may have identified a lucrative niche.

Additionally, use article directories to research competitors and potential joint venture partners. Each article typically includes links to websites, which may have lead capture systems in place.

Keep track of these contacts as potential partners for launching your products.

Niche Research Tool #6 - Yahoo Answers:

To research effectively on Yahoo Answers:

1- Enter a keyword related to your industry (e.g., "Job Loss").

2- Compile a list of questions people are asking on this topic, such as “How to find a new job and achieve better job security?”

3- Identify the underlying motivations behind these questions (e.g., concerns about job loss).

4- Formulate a campaign based on your findings. For example, offer resume writing assistance or training on job interview preparation.

5- Consider introducing opportunities for people to start their own online businesses as an alternative to traditional job searching.

Proven Profitable Niche Topics:

If you’re struggling to identify a profitable niche, consider these well-established options:

  • Weight loss and dieting

  • Health and wellness

  • Fitness and exercise

  • Beauty and anti-aging

  • Relationships

  • Making money (online or offline)

  • Saving money

  • Parenting concerns

  • Personal development

To Your Success,
