I find affirmations to be extremely powerful in my life, which is why I like to share them with you all so often. There really is power in what we say.

Soooo....
How many fucking times have you heard the recommendation / suggestion / necessity:
"Release the past."
My guess is more than you can count. Now, there's good reason for this, but have you found yourself wondering what exactly does that mean? Forgetting the past would be counterproductive if you are consciously moving forward on your healing journey. We gotta feel to deal to heal. Right? What does "releasing the past" look like. What does it feel like. What is the goal here?

Keep in mind, healing is not linear (shit, neither is time.. but let's stay on topic). It can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions and one day you may feel unbothered, confident, and focused - the next you may experience burn out, exhaustion, and self - defeating thoughts.. the key is acceptance. Accept where you are at and get real with yourself. Learn when to push forward and when to draw back. Increase your self awareness so that you can have an idea if you are responding from a place of fear or love. The more you practice this, the more you can understand your triggers and the cause of them. Identifying what causes certain moods is very helpful when "releasing the past". You will never forget experiences that you consider important to you. The joy and the pain, it exists one in the same. As you continue to connect to yourself and listen to your inner wisdom, your body, and stand up for what you feel is right.. you will raise your vibration and feel a sense of detachment from the past, making it easier to live in the now.

No matter how aware you are, how much you meditate, how often you do yoga, or how healthy you eat, you are still human and you will have emotional and confusing days that throw you for a loop. This does not mean you aren't healing. This does not mean you have not let go of certain things. Allow yourself to feel a range of emotions - accept them for what they are - and pay attention to what they are telling you.
