Second match of the weekend saw ickledot at Bramhope once more to see West Park’s top team take on Bishop Auckland. West Park are doing quite well at the moment, currently lying second in the National Championship North table.
By way of a contrast, the visiting squad occupy the bottom spot. This comes as something of a surprise as Bishop Auckland’s performance was most impressive. First to score, with a try followed by a successful penalty, they competed throughout the game and were pushing for a win, leading 8-7, well into the second half.
It was only then that West Park broke through for a second try and then a third with the last play of the game, giving a final score of 19-8. This perhaps flatters West Park a little, given that they’d had to work hard in defence and Bishop Auckland had offered so few scoring opportunities.
Overall it was an excellent game. Well done to both sides for providing such a hard fought contest. Have a look at some more pictures from the game.
This is ickledot’s final post before his Christmas break. Have a fantastic Christmas everyone. Let’s all hope for a happy and successful 2024.
