Writing this on a dull Monday morning and already the weather has begun to turn away from last week’s warmth and the weekend’s (almost) endless sunshine. Saturday was particularly summery - hardly a cloud in the sky and a temperature that wouldn’t disgrace a day in August.
And so to Otley. Since ickledot’s last visit to Cross Green in the Autumn, the club has gone from strength to strength and topped the league table for most of the season. From the first kick, they set about demonstrating how they’ve been so successful. The tries came thick and fast throughout, with the final one being scored in the last play of the game, giving a finishing tally of 57 points.
Though visitors Alnwick suffered a heavy defeat, on many other occasions their total of 29 points would have been a match winning score. As the announcer told the crowd, it was the most points scored against Otley at home for the whole season.
Well done to everyone concerned - a great afternoon of open attacking rugby - a joy to photograph - hope you like the results!
