A sunny, cold, breezy afternoon for Leeds Tykes’ home fixture with Birmingham Moseley. Just seven days previously, this same venue had been engulfed by a blizzard, so the Spring weather was especially welcome.
Most would agree that the first half belonged to the visitors. The scoreboard certainly reflected this. However, Tykes fans have learned from previous performances that a game is never over at half time, no matter the score, and so it proved on this day.
Though the home side had managed to claw back a few points, the difference was still more than two converted scores (15-30) well into the second half. Two tries came, one converted, bringing it back to 27-30 and for the final few minutes Tykes fought hard for a winner. However, it was not to be and that’s how the score remained. Clearly a disappointment but Tykes must take some comfort in having the ability to come so close to victory, having been so far behind. It was an excellent encounter, well done and congratulations to both sides.
