Into December when daylight is in short supply, a 12.30pm kick-off was most welcome. Bit of a hardship for the visitors all the way from Kent but the squad came with a good number of supporters helping to create a great pre-Christmas atmosphere.
A little extra challenge for ickledot was photographing for The Rugby Paper, making it necessary to cover both teams rather than only concentrating on the Tykes. Didn’t work out too much of a problem in the end although two of the photos the paper selected were taken from the other end of the pitch, quite a distance from the action itself.
Following a dull and rain filled morning the skies brightened and the sun made occasional appearances throughout the first half although the clouds returned for the second forty minutes.
As you’ll already know by now it was a close and hotly contested game, with both sides holding the lead at times. It ended 19-11 to the Tykes, bringing much delight for the home team and its supporters, as you’ll see from the pictures.
This was the second victory in a row for the Tykes. It’s a delight to witness this, a newly born club, gradually becoming more comfortable with the challenges of the National League. Big congratulations to all.
