As the rugby union season finally comes to an end (apart from Yorkshire’s epic trip to Twickenham next week of course), so begins the season of 7s. This weekend it was the Jungle variety, held at West Park Leeds RUFC.
First to hit the senses was the music, loud and rhythmic, then the bright colours of the stalls, flags, banners and, it has to be said, some of the players’ shirts. Most were there for the rugby of course, and there was plenty of it for both men and women, ranging over at least four pitches and lasting for over seven hours. While some were taking the games very seriously, others were there to have a great time too.
