A highlight of Yorkshire’s rugby season is the Leeds Varsity, involving the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University. Again, thousands of fans flocked to Headingley Stadium on Wednesday to see each university’s squads, both women and men, slug it out in a contest for rugby bragging rights over the next 12 months. What an atmosphere they created!
As you’ll probably already know, Beckett came out on top in both games, the final scores perhaps flattering them a little, with Leeds Uni’s women offering stern resistance in the first half and its men having much of the possession early in the second. However, in the men’s game the try pictured above broke the deadlock, enabling Beckett fans to breathe more easily and their team to stretch their lead with penalties.
