Yorkshire’s annual county day out was at Castle Park in Doncaster this year. Following a murky week of cold and showers, the sun returned in force and sunburn became the issue rather than keeping warm.
On the rugby field results were mixed. Despite racing into a 12-0 lead, Yorkshire’s women were eventually pegged back and ultimately came up short against a strong Leicestershire squad. Still, they competed well throughout and showed there’s much to be optimistic about for this side in transition.
For the men it was a continuation from last weekend really. This time their tally was over 80 points - a truly scintillating performance. Well done to all. With the old enemy from the other side of the Pennines coming up next week though, there’s no room for complacency!
