SalemVerse #175 Winner
I didn't even realize I was entering a prompt competition when I wrote this. Fun surprise, winning something when you are only writing something for the pleasure and practice. I've been playing with meter as much as space recently, mental space I suppose when scanning. I notice it has made me more conscious of my word choices.
The imagery of "Tears in russet tapestries/Dripping like the stigmata/Onto a fertile plant/Awaiting rebirth come spring" is one of the best descriptions of autumn ever to come from these fingers.
It is my honor to share such things that spring from a mind as splintered as this one can be.
Season's change, a dazzling
Show of photosynthesis
If only I said goodbye
Tears in russet tapestries
Dripping like the stigmata
Onto a fertile planet
Awaiting rebirth come spring
Sweetness causing a toothache
