A French-style baguette with a crispy exterior and a soft, airy interior, made with sourdough starter for added flavor.

ingredients

  • 500g bread flour

  • 350g water

  • 100g active sourdough starter

  • 10g salt

instructions

  • Follow steps 1-4 from the Classic Sourdough Bread recipe.

  • Divide the dough into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a baguette shape.

  • Place the shaped baguettes on a lightly floured baking sheet or baguette pan.

  • Cover and let them proof at room temperature for 1-2 hours, or until nearly doubled in size.

  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) with a baking stone inside.

  • Carefully transfer the proofed baguettes onto the preheated baking stone.

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped on the bottom.

  • Allow the baguettes to cool before slicing.
