A Day in the Amalfi Coast

A Day in the Amalfi Coast

Jun 21, 2024

The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of incredible beauty of Italy's southern coast, bathed by the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is known for its colorful constructions along the hills and its beautiful beaches.

It is located in the province of Salerno, near the city of Naples. Having only one day to explore the coast, we decided to visit its main cities: Positano, the "postcard" of the Amalfi Coast, and Amalfi, which names it, both easily reached by boat from the city of Salerno, where we were hosted.

Salerno

Our starting point was the Port of Salerno, where we took a ferry boat at early morning to Positano.

Positano

Fifty minutes later we arrived in Positano. We spent all the morning there, wandering on its narrow streets and hillsides.

At noon we went to a bus stop to take the bus to Amalfi. From there, you can see the "postcard view" of the Amalfi Coast.

Amalfi

The trip to Amalfi took about one hour, along a winding road at the edge of the cliff.

The city is quite similar to Positano, but its hills are not so steep and it has more open spaces, such as a main square and streets not so narrow.

We spent the afternoon there and at the end of the day took the ferry to return to Salerno.

We had a very enjoyable day and this one day trip is highly recommended.
