B-Dubs and Bottomless Queso!

imageAre you kidding me? Bottomless queso dip at Buffalo Wild Wings?!? Guess I picked the right place to write my book today.

If you would like to support me in this endeavor, it could be as little as buying my soda or paying for an appetizer. Truth be told, any amount small or large is greatly appreciated. So thank you for your consideration.

Here's an excerpt from today's writing.

First and foremost, this book is about a message. With that being said, this book is also about the messenger. To really understand this message, it’s important to understand the man behind the message. I’m not even sure it’s possible to separate the message from the messenger. Or if one even dare to try. For me it would be like trying to separate my brain from my heart. Maybe separating my hand from my arm would be a better analogy. Because if one were to separate their brain from their heart or their head from their body, death would be inevitable. However, if someone were to separate their hand from their arm, or their arm from their shoulder, it’s uncomfortable to say the least, but doable. You can do that and live, but something is definitely going to die if you try. My hand can’t function without being connected to the arm. In other words, I could write this book and leave out talking about the messenger part. Which, believe me, I would rather do. These "me" chapters are taking way longer to write than any of the other chapters so far. This may sound surprising to some, but talking about myself in this way has been quite difficult to me. I don’t mind talking about me, but talking about me when it may come across as braggadocious, is something I normally reserve to my wife and closest friends.

Separating the message and the messenger might be alright for some. All I know is, for me that’s not the case. Years ago as I was preparing a message, trying to figure out what I was going to say to my audience, I was quite stressed with the whole situation. It was now crunch time. Just mere hours before I was supposed to speak and I still hadn’t figured out what God wanted me to share with them. It was then that I felt like God was telling me to relax and not worry about it. I interrupted, “Not worry about it?” I remembered thinking. “Easy for you to say, you’re God. But I have to speak to these people in an hour or so and you still haven’t revealed to me what you want me to say.” Like I said, I was pretty stressed. Once I calmed down enough for God to finish what He was trying to show me, He then revealed to me that I was the message. He just wanted me to get up there, grab that microphone, and just be me. If I did that, the message would naturally flow from me because I was the message. The message was me. Stop overthinking and be. Now get up there and love these people in this audience. I did, and to be honest was quite shocked, because it worked. I mean it really worked. It was a great message and a great day. One of my finest speeches. Once I got out of the way God’s message to His people just flowed.

Does that sound strange to you? Because it sure sounded strange to me. That was a new and strange concept for me to swallow. They never taught me anything like that at Bible College, but it sure worked! And I’ve been speaking and living that way ever since.
