First, though, let me chastise the Universe for taking Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. That was lame, Universe.
So here's the thing. I had to leave quite a bit behind when we fled Minneapolis for New York. Two endless weeks of toil was breaking my mind as well as my body. We can discuss "re-traumatization" at another time. Anyway, I left things with friends, much of the mess untidy.
And now they, those folks, have been hit with a hilarious/not hilarious unexpected expense, so things are a bit awry. What we need to do now is move what's left of my lifetime out of their house and into a new, tiny locker, one that isn't in my old neighborhood. And then I'm going to have to go back there and ship the stuff myself.
For well over a year I have been trying to get the pieces of my life back. Fighting for control over some books, photographs, a few pair of shoes, some memorabilia. And it looks like another month or two before I can finish the job. This time I won't have help.
So, if you're so inclined, between the loss of our cultural icons and the madness of King You Know Who, I would surely appreciate the price of a coffee if you think you can spare it.
