The Pros:
Prime Location: You are directly in the heart of Manchester city centre, making it ideal if you just need a landing pad after a night out, concert, or match. Manchester Piccadilly train station is a 10-minute walk. National Express coach station is a 2-minute walk. Get cashback on National Express with TopCashback.
Free tours and tourist information. See the stand in reception for information. Alternatively, book tours in advance here.
Historic Features: The building itself (a former Victorian textile warehouse) has striking features, including a grand staircase and chandelier in the lobby.

Affordability: Hard to beat on price for a central location. If you sign up to the newsletter, get alerted when there are offers.
Wi-Fi generally works well. However, I found you sometimes have to reconnect after being away from the hotel.
Some free amenities such as shower gel, soap, tea and coffee are provided, as well as a kettle and hairdryer. However, fridges are not provided in the rooms.
All rooms have en-suite bathrooms. I found the en-suite bathroom to be clean.

The Cons:
Lack of Modern Amenities: No air conditioning although a fan and heater are in the wardrobe. There are some outlets but no USB charging.
Windowless Rooms: The cheapest room options might be windowless box rooms, which can feel dark and stuffy. However, I was lucky and got a window.
Noise & Maintenance: Thin walls, noise from Portland Street/Canal Street, broken fixtures, and slow elevators are frequent complaints.
No daily room cleaning. However, additional towels can be provided.
The Verdict
Stay here if: You are on a strict budget, traveling solo or with friends for a night out/gig, and literally only need a bed to sleep. Compare prices and lock in a great refundable deal today; that way, you can cancel if you find a better hotel or price.
Consider staying here if you want a central location, but do not have an unlimited budget.
Avoid if: You expect modern hotel standards, are traveling with family, value cleanliness and quiet, or get claustrophobic in windowless rooms.
