The Houthis and United States exchanged attacks once again today. The Houthis initiated by launching missiles and drones at American warships. The Houthis came the closest yet to scoring a direct hit against an American warship, with the Gravely intercepting a missile about a mile away using its Close-In Weapons System, its last line of defense against incoming projectiles. This is the first time the United States has admitted to using the CIWS during Operations Prosperity Guardian and Poseidon Archer. The Houthis claimed to have directly hit an American warship, a claim which the United States denied. The Houthis routinely lie about their successes, despite the fact that they're already a competent force that has notched up several notable achievements given their relative lack of advanced hardware.

The United States has yet to launch punitive strikes in response to the bombing of their base in Rukban, Jordan. However, the United States is still promising that retribution will be coming, and seems to be settling on a campaign of strikes against Iranian proxies in Iraq and Syria, though has left the door open for direct strikes on explicitly Iranian targets outside of Iran. Even with Kata'ib Hezbollah attempting to extend an olive branch, other Iranian proxies have vowed to carry on the fight against the United States.

Ceasefire talks have progressed, though a deal has yet to be finalized. It would reportedly be in three stages, with the remainder of the hostages from October 7th released first, followed by soldiers that Hamas has captured, and then finally, bodies of the deceased being released. In exchange, Israel would release a larger number of Palestinians than before, including some militants. The ceasefire would also last longer than the previous one, which would allow a greater amount of humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. Hypothetically, a longer ceasefire would allow regional tensions to calm down more than before, and with a stroke of luck, might be the start of the end of the current war.
