The Houthis today launched a single missile into the Red Sea, failing to hit anything. The United States launched a single strike, blowing up a single missile. For now, it seems like things are relatively calm in the region. Unfortunately, the Rubymar, which the Houthis dealt critical damage to a while back, is still adrift and has caused significant ecological harm. The Houthis have stated that they will not allow the barely afloat vessel to be towed unless if some of their demands regarding Gaza are met.

In the face of shifting public opinion, pressure from congressional moderates, and Israel's shooting of civilians trying to reach humanitarian aid yesterday, Biden made the decision to deliver humanitarian aid by air to Gaza. The United States is also reportedly considering opening up a maritime corridor as well, to help ease the siege of Gaza. While the United States has sold a large amount of military equipment to Israel (and in fact, even overrode Congress at times to expedite shipment), public opinion has since turned the other way. While it is only humanitarian aid the United States plans to deliver, it is symbolic of the increasingly fractured relationship between the Israeli and American governments as the war drags on and Israel has not listened to American requests to tone down their campaign in light of the high civilian casualty rates.
