The United States has confirmed that the Tutor, the first of two merchant vessels that the Houthis struck recently, is sinking slowly. The United States also confirmed that the crew has been rescued by coalition forces, though one sailor is missing. Meanwhile the Verbena, the Ukrainian-owned merchant vessel which was also struck, is once again sailing under its own power. The United States evacuated one sailor who had sustained series injuries from the attack. The United States launched additional strikes today, destroying a handful of drones. Notably, the United States claims tj have destroyed seven radars, which the United States asserted that the Houthis were using to help direct missiles and drones against vessels. Of course, radar is also useful for air defense, and the United States suddenly this week took an interest in degrading the Houthis' air defense capabilities. This may be a further extension of that.
For the second time this week, aid to Gaza through the American pier has been suspended. The United States is relocating it temporarily ahead of rough weather. Previously, I questioned the wisdom of not making any adaptations to the pier to accommodate rough weather after it was dismantled by a storm, and the United States publicly ruled out reinforcing it because they felt the chance of rough weather in the future was slim. Obviously, this was a prediction that did not pan out for the United States, with extremely unfortunate humanitarian ramifications. Hopefully, the United States is planning on either establishing additional ways for humanitarian aid to arrive or for ways for the pier to become more reliable in the future.
The United States today slapped sanctions on Tsav 9, an organization in Israel which has disrupted shipments of humanitarian aid. While the United States has been careful to defend the Israeli government at almost every opportunity, they are drawing a clear line with the actions of non government organizations.
Hezbollah has still been quiet about yesterday's strike outside of Tyre. The United States is sending a delegation to the region on Monday, in an effort to diffuse tensions. For that reason, I don't think we'll see full ear erupt before then; both sides will st least want to hear out any American proposals.
