Iran held the second round of their presidential election. Turnout increased from the first round, perhaps showing that the record low turnout from the first round was merely an anomaly. According to most sources, including Iranian officials, the reformist candidate Pezeshkian narrowly won. However, Iran has not yet published complete results, but they are expected shortly. The apparent victory of the reformist candidate is a strong sign that the Iranian population is wanting to nudge the Iranian government off of the path that they have taken in recent years, which has been rather escalatory in the region. Despite this change, too much damage has been done by the United States abandoning the JCPOA for a renewed nuclear deal to be inked any time soon, in my opinion.

Hezbollah has stated that should Israel and Hamas agree to a ceasefire, that Hezbollah will also immediately halt their firing at Israel for as long as the ceasefire holds. The Houthis and other groups have not made the same pledge, but the Houthis have explicitly tied their actions against international shipping to the war, and in terms of direct attacks on Israel, the Houthis, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, and others have not been able to inflict much damage.
