About Gissell Ramirez
I write about politics—how policy shows up in real life for children, families, and communities.
I’m an Afro-Latina immigrant, a local education and children’s advocate, an entrepreneur, and a neurodivergent mother raising neurodivergent children in NYC. My work is grounded in public education, disability advocacy, immigration, and community organizing.
Alongside essays and poems, I create coloring pages using the language of flowers to reflect the emotions I’m holding while writing—grief, anger, tenderness, hope.
If this resonates, your support helps sustain the writing, art, and advocacy. Thank you for being here.
