Girlhood Company Introduction

Jun 17, 2022

Hi, my name is Addison Salyer! I am the owner/creator of Girlhood Company. I am an eighteen-year-old student at Morehead State University working on obtaining a degree in Small Business Entrepreneurship and Management. So what is Girlhood Co., you ask? Girlhood is more than your regular storefront. Girlhood Co. will be established to give women a safe place to grow their businesses while also having the option to buy from other women-owned small businesses. In our store, we want to provide a place where we can inspire women to follow their dreams and be confident in their skin. More than ever, women need to stick together and speak out.

As a company, we will do just that; speak up, inspire, and help the women in our community. Girlhood will represent the embodiment of women helping women. I want our storefront to be filled with women-owned businesses and artists to create an empowering environment. Not only will we display their work, but we will tell their stories. The store will be filled with multiple displays and a coffee bar that will contribute monthly to women's charities. With our business being placed in the heart of Morehead, Ky, we want to involve our local college community. Including throwing events with the colleges Greek groups, who often raise money for charity, and creating a job for the college students in the area. Looking back to 2020, I opened my first business called "Elise and Clothing Boutique" with this business, I had reached over 12.7k customers and sold in every state in the US and even ten countries. Even though my business was successful, I felt like I needed more, which is where I created the concept of Girlhood. In our world, I have seen where women are constantly facing judgment and faced with fear of the future of their rights. Girlhood will be the representation of a safe place away from home for women, and I hope to one day be able to share my concept with the world and grow a women-empowering community. As I always like to say, "EMPOWERING women Empower women"!
