LAY OVER - Feb 2024

Feb 19, 2024

We just completed a sold-out opening then closing night (thank you two night season) of LAY OVER in the NZ Fringe Festival, our third full show as Ginge & Minge!

Feels pretty cool to be honing in on the type of chaos, character and creativity we like to create on stage. LAY OVER has also been one of our most rewarding creative development processes so far, thanks go to our wonderful director and mentor Joel Luscombe and our fab tech Sam Irwin (who we were stoked to work with for the second show in a row). LAY OVER is completely improvised outside of our per-determined characters (much like Jez & Jace) which has lead to some cooked content, but also some really quick, delightful comedy and fantastic audience interactions. We're landing on a form now that serves us best as performers and gives the audience a new fun show every night!

But don't just take our word for it, we were lucky to also get a fantastic review:

"Nina and Megan are fantastic improvisers, with incredible chemistry honed through a lot of performances together"

"The pair are at the top of their game in this show, leaving the audience crying with laughter"

"It is delirious filth and utterly frenetic"

- Emma Maguire THEATREVIEW (17th Feb 2024)

We are so grateful for the support of our friends and whānau in this debut season. If you missed it, don't fret, we don't reckon this is the end of LAY OVER just yet! (oh a surprise rhyme at the end there).

Next up for us is JEZ & JACE at Dunedin Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival, then FAME OR DIE back for NZ Int. Comedy Festival. Busy gal and non-bino pal we know! Grab yourself a ticket at our website or follow us on socials for the increasingly delirious content.
