MACO TRACE - Talkin' the Trace

MACO TRACE - Talkin' the Trace

Apr 02, 2024

Introduction:

HelloMaco brings us the MACO Trace, GPLAMA did a YouTube Video on this one - the trace has been out for a couple of years now and is extremely well regarded in the cycling community but also in the EDC community (Maco is fast becoming an EDC community legend).

Loke like everything that HelloMaco does, this is extremely well over engineered and well thought out.

Maco Trace is an Airtag holder for a push bike and most likely one of the better ones on the market these days to be honest with you. We've used and come across the Velo by Orbit (Not be confused with ORBITKEY), Knog Scout, Muc Off Sealth mount (This is by far one of my favorite hidden ones, because this is well hidden under your tire in your tubeless set up).

Concept:

The concept isn't flawed, thanks MACO!

A lot of these that we see on the market have some flaws and issues with the concept and that's not a good thing at all, but that's life, Maco has put thousands into R&D and worked with something that actually is effective.

Maco's packaging is nice, which means it would actually make a nice new gift for any cyclist friend or family member you know.

Execution:

Maco has executed this one quite well and that's just a fact of life, it sits flush with the seat post frame which is a bonus and that's definitely not a bad thing to be honest with you, I like that. Like everything we've seen from Maco, we know it's going to be built ROCK SOLID, cause Maco doesn't do anything half out of the gate to be honest.

The thought behind extra 3M and installation process is second to none and takes the guess work out of it, there's no doubt this is a must have for combatting bike theft, the seat post mounting is a common one for an airtag to be honest, but the reflector has it hidden in plain sight, and it serves a dual purpose, so that's definitely not a bad thing to be honest with you, it's easily secured to the seat post and fits a large range of seat posts.

Once installed the Trace still remains easily accessible for the user to access the Airtag to change the battery and so fourth, which is never a bad thing it's also a lot less hassle to change the battery as opposed to something like the Muc off one :)
