I recently treated myself to a set of 24 Holbein acrylic gouache tubes and have been anxiously awaiting their arrival. They finally came in the mail today and I am loving them so far! Very vibrant hues and super nifty consistency and oh so lovely matte finish. I’ve been loving getting into traditional gouache paints, yet their inability to stand up to water mean they won’t work for my senior capstone project at CSUMB.
The first thing that I always do when I get new paints is to create swatches for each color. This gives me a better idea of what each color looks like than the color printed on the tube, and also lets me know how opaque each hue is. Next step is to mix up some fun colors and start playing around!
