Pattern to crochet your own little bonnet :)

sc= single crochet, dc= double crochet

I use wool which usually stretches a little bit and tend to keep my hats on the smaller side and then stretch them a bit before wearing! [needle size 4mm & 50g of pure wool DK x2]

Top of the Bonnet

Start with 4 chain row & slip stitch the first chain to form a ring

Row 1: chain up 2 (sc). 9 dc the centre of the ring. slip stitch to close the round.

Row 2: chain up 2 (sc). 2dc into every stitch. slip stitch to close the round.

Row 3: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 2nd stitch (meaning two dc into every second stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 4: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 3rd stitch (meaning two dc into every third stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 5: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 4th stitch (meaning two dc into every fourth stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 6: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 5th stitch (meaning two dc into every fifth stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 7: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 6th stitch (meaning two dc into every sixth stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 8: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 7th stitch (meaning two dc into every seventh stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

[Decide when you think the top of the hat is large enough for your head, it also depends on which size yarn you're using. You can keep increasing more if you want to add extra rounds for a larger hat.]

Side of the Bonnet

Row 9-22(ish): chain up 2 (sc). no increases, dc all round. slip stitch to close the round.

[Again the size of the hat might vary depending on head size so you can add more or less as you desire.]

Brim of the Bonnet

Row 23: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 2nd stitch (meaning two dc into every second stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 24: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 4th stitch (meaning two dc into every fourth stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 25: chain up 2 (sc). increase every 2nd stitch (meaning two dc into every second stitch). slip stitch to close the round.

Row 26: chain up 2 (sc). no increases, dc all round. slip stitch to close the round.

[Add more if you want a larger brim!]

Ties

make a chain of single crochets of your desired length (20-30 sc)

attach them at the sides of your hat
