Leeds United edge the Premier League Team-of-the-Week for Matchday 3

Premier League Team-of-the-Week - Matchday 3 - The Contenders;

Newcastle gave Manchester City a run for their money, trailing by a goal to nil, only to turn things around to take a two-goal lead. Allan Saint-Maximin had an outstanding game for the home side with his ranging runs into the channels. Kieran Trippier scored a goal-of-the-week contender with a superbly taken free-kick. Trippier's strike gave Ederson no chance in the Manchester City goal. Eddie Howe's side conceded two goals in four minutes and they held on to earn a valuable point in a 3-3 draw.

Manchester United bounced back from two embarrassing defeats to get one over their rivals, defeating Liverpool 2-1. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford were on target for United. Liverpool have taken two points-from-nine, and I asked if it was time to panic? Of course, it's way too early for that. Liverpool continue to raise the bar, so it's no wonder why fans and pundits are scratching their heads at Liverpool's early season wobble. United's tactics paid off and they deserve to be in the conversation for Team-of-the-Week.

Arsenal battered Bournemouth 3-0, with William Saliba taking the pick of the goals. Skipper Martin Ødegaard had a superb game, scoring two goals. It's too early to suggest Arsenal will have a successful season, try telling that to their fans. Mikel Arteta has got his side firing, unlike at this stage of the season 12 months ago, when Arsenal couldn't buy a win. The Gunners are the early pace setters in the league.

When Leeds United play Chelsea one thinks of the 1970 FA Cup Final, a competitive affair and not one for the feint hearted. Leeds, striving to improve on last season, battered Chelsea 3-0 at Elland Road. Thomas Tuchel's side looked second-best for 90 minutes. United hardly gave Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling a kick. Jesse Marsch is winning over plenty of neutrals with his passion and his side's high-tempo performances.

The former MLS midfielder look on from his technical area as Jack Harrison gave a 5-star performance on the left-wing. Harrison and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne lead the Premier League performance stats, per Opta.

Leeds are up to 3rd in the league and Marsch's side are this week's stand out Premier League team.
