Taiwanese Minced Pork

Jun 16, 2021

Hello everybody and welcome to another recipe Wednesday. You told me that you wanted to learn how I make my Taiwanese minced pork recipe on Instagram. My recipe tip is to always search in the local language. It takes more work to translate it all but I find it tastes way more authentic. I have made this pork over rice, over noodles, and in fan tuan or a sticky rice roll. Like I said I mostly source my recipes therefore check out the video for this recipe below.

Let's Cook:

400 grams minced pork

16 dried mushrooms( I used fresh portabella)

40 grams fried onions( easily found in Asian markets)

2 garlic cloves

1 slice of ginger.

1 Tablespoon light soy sauce.

1 teaspoon sugar.

Pork seasoning:

4 Tablespoons light soy

2 teaspoons sugar

1 Tablespoon oyster sauce.

1) Rehydrate the mushrooms and chop them into small pieces.

2) Marinate the mushrooms with 1 Tablespoon light soy sauce and 1 teaspoon sugar. Mix and set aside.

3) Chop 2 cloves of garlic and 1 slice of ginger.

4) Fry garlic and ginger in oil until brown. Next, add your mushrooms and stir fry.

5) Then, add your pork and cook until no longer pink. Add your fried onions.

6) Add your seasoning to the pan and mix. Add water bit by bit to make it saucy. Cover and let it reduce.

7) Add cornstarch with some water to thicken.

Serving:

Serve over a bowl of rice or noodles. Add a soft rolled egg if you desire.

Rolled Egg:

I crack four eggs into a bowl mix a little soy sauce and sesame oil. Heat my pan on medium heat. Toss in the eggs and whisk them until it starts to come together. Then, lower the heat, and when it starts to set I take my spatula and try to roll it.

There you go! Now you know how to make this tasty dish at home. Not only is it tasty it is quick and most of the ingredients you probably already have at home.
