Another beautiful day with the amazing Lopez family
Originally from Cape Verde but now living in Senegal, the Lopez family welcomed us with open arms and genuine kindness
While hitchhiking our way from Casamance to Dakar, a man named Boubacar stopped to offer us a ride. At first, he asked if we could contribute for the trip, but we explained we were hitchhiking due to limited resources. He turned to his father, Mamado, who was with him, and asked if they could take us anyway. With a warm smile and zero hesitation, Mamado said, “Yeah, yeah—pick them up.”
And that is how our journey with the Lopez family began
Mamado, now in his 80's, shared stories during the 10-hour drive about his youth; full of adventures, including his own experiences hitchhiking back in the days. Listening to him was like stepping into living history
When we finally arrived at their home, the entire family welcomed us with love, care, and genuine hospitality. They even prepared a place for us to sleep that very night
The next day, they gave us a tour of Rufisque, a lively city in Senegal where we explored the local market and soaked in the vibrant atmosphere. That evening, we were invited to celebrate the birthday of one of the children, a joyful night full of laughter, music, and dancing
Much love and deep respect to the Lopez family for hosting us with such generosity
With gratitude,
Youssef&Vero
