As I sat in meditation beneath the light of this Full Moon, I found myself reflecting on the condition of our world.
Across different parts of the Earth, communities are experiencing the extremes of water and climate. In some regions, floods and landslides have brought destruction and uncertainty. In others, drought and water scarcity have challenged the resilience of communities and ecosystems alike.
These realities remind us that we are not separate from nature. We are part of a living, breathing web of life.
This Full Moon arrives with the Moon in Pisces and the Sun in Virgo. Whether we interpret these signs symbolically, spiritually, or psychologically, they offer a powerful opportunity for reflection.
Pisces is associated with compassion, intuition, dreams, and the vast ocean of collective human experience. Virgo is associated with healing, service, stewardship, and practical care. Together, they invite us to balance our hearts and our hands.
It is not enough to feel compassion.
We must become compassion in action.
It is not enough to pray for healing.
We must participate in healing.
It is not enough to hope for a better world.
We must help create it.
In our Indigenous Filipino worldview, the Earth is not merely a resource to be consumed. The rivers, mountains, forests, seas, and skies participate in the sacred web of creation established by Bathalang Maykapal. When balance is disturbed, nature often becomes a teacher, reminding humanity to return to right relationship.
This Full Moon inspired me to create a guided meditation and prayer to Bathalang Maykapal. It is a meditation for those who seek peace in uncertain times. It is a prayer for communities affected by floods, landslides, droughts, and environmental challenges. It is also a personal invitation to look inward and ask:
How can I become an instrument of healing?
How can I serve my community?
How can I live more harmoniously with the Earth?
The meditation encourages us to visualize the sacred waters of the world, to hold in prayer those who are suffering, and to recognize our shared responsibility as caretakers of creation.
At its heart, this practice is about reconnection.
Reconnection with ourselves.
Reconnection with nature.
Reconnection with the Divine Presence known by many names, and whom we honor as Bathalang Maykapal.
As we move through the coming weeks, may we carry the compassion of Pisces and the wisdom of Virgo into our daily lives. May our spirituality not be confined to ritual alone, but expressed through kindness, stewardship, service, and care for all beings.
The world does not need more spectators.
The world needs more healers.
The world needs more peacemakers.
The world needs more people willing to transform prayer into practice.
May this Full Moon remind us that every act of compassion, no matter how small, contributes to the healing of the greater whole.
