I grew up in a manse, lived as a missionary and now work part-time for a charity so I have always known how to budget and to choose cheaper options. But don't imagine for a minute that makes me immune to the desire for more. As I work on repairs to my flat with a view to selling it and buying another more accessible place in the same expensive city, I sometimes catch myself wishing I had more money.
But this week I understood something about that desire. It's insatiable. And human desire is always insatiable because we are creatures designed to desire an infinite God.
Only God can safely be the object of my desire.
