I am a novelist, short story, and screenwriter with an MFA in Creative Writing. I've taught English Literature, Women's Contemporary Literature, Women's Studies, English, and Creative Writing and studied acting in Los Angeles for a decade. I've lived in LA, New York, and all over the South, and consider myself a citizen of the world, bonniest in Act V of one of my projects, in parts yonder, stomping along a Coastal Path, popping into pubs, navigating cobbled streets, traveling on barges, sampling Michelin Star restaurants, exploring museums, and loving the divine aspects of cultures flung across the pond.
I love chatting with people. I've spoken with a Danish Countess, Swedish actors, Brits, Cornish, Scots, Germans, Italians, and Norwegians, and been a heck of a lot better for the experience.
Since I returned to the States, I've written my first novel, Borrowed Light; a collection of twelve linked stories that follows a Southern family from Charleston S.C. through 50 years of American life. Jean narrates a road trip that links Charleston with LA, New York, Brooklyn Heights, London, and Cornwall. An intrepid traveler, traditionalist, and feminist, Jean Turner is willing to live within these contradictory truths.
Adventures in Paradise is a sister screenplay exploring the effects of tabloid culture through Aurora Blunton and Clive Reade's perspectives, two privileged but very different individuals who meet, argue, get to know each other and fall in love.
A Downton Abbey-sized cast draws on the atmosphere, culture, and talents of London to unfold three action filled Acts through Chefs, Cabbies, Valets, Barristers, Solicitors, Philanthropists, Editors, Journos, Cops, Fixers, Tabloid Hacks, Spooks, MPs, British Society Mavens, Peers, Mystery Writers, Rogues, Blackguards, and Crooks.
It's an entertainment for the ages, and as my novel is finally (all 377 pages of it) finished, I hope to work with a top agency on both.
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see y'all on @Twitter and @Instagram or out in the great big world, eh? Elan xx
