Today's a brilliant day!

After a couple of years of collaborating on a sci-fi space opera series with my good friend David Affray, just for fun, we decided to try out Amazon's new Vella platform and publish what we've been writing more or less as a hobby! We would write it, even if we never published it, because both of us love the genre and wanted to let our imagination run amok together, see what we came up with.

Most of it has been world-building (3 books and an encyclopaedia) until we began writing the series for real, passing the episodes back and forth between us, building the story one chapter at the time. And when I say it's been fun, I mean, we have created four 30K novella's worth so far, all sitting on our laptops. It is about time we took the plunge and let others read.

It all starts when Pellare's moon disappears. The moon, Sennoma, has been part-colonised and it is believed that all inhabitants are dead, until Aree, a scientist, deduces from her data that it may not all be as it seems. Along with a hunter, she is abducted from Pellare by an operative on a mission, but Aree has other problems to deal with: her daughter and sister were on the moon. If there's a chance of finding them, she has to try it.

Like all good space operas, there's a bunch of characters who are thrown together to save the world: hunter, operative, IT whizz, scientist, pirate, teenager, doctor and an over-affectionate six-legged empath pet. Unfortunately, they are not only stranded in a rift and can't get their space ship - a dilapidated hospital ship - to move. Some of them also have a bit of a history with each other and are now stranded with the last person on Pellare they'd ever want to meet again, except to kill. Despite this, they have to work together if they're going to follow the clues and save their moon, the galaxy and universe!
