Covered in this summary is the quality, location, usage and general outlook for September 2026. What I cannot cover in a public newsletter is how your personal gua is going to respond to the sector, your individual Day Master or BaZi considerations, or the property's Natal Flying Star combination interactions.
Please bear in mind throughout this narrative that a Favorable Flying Star does not automatically make every property sector favourable.
External forms, the property's natal chart, annual afflictions and actual usage still matter.
September 2026
September does not introduce a completely different Feng Shui landscape for us to work, sleep, study or conduct our day to day activities. It repeats the annual pattern of qi which runs through the entire property.
That means the strengths of the available energy for the year become more noticeable, but so do the weaknesses.
The annual stars are all doubling up in every sector, which is referred to as Fu Yin.
Fu Yin favours consolidation, refinement, completing unfinished work and strengthening what is already working.
The danger is complacency, repetition of poor decisions and remaining on a familiar path simply because it is familiar.
The annual map shows us the underlying quality and opportunity of the sector. Activities are supported by using the corrrect sector.
In the Fu Yin chart during September, it has the same influence but it now also becomes louder, requiring a more conscious response from:
The individual user of the space – because Feng Shui does not care whether you own or rent the space, it is simply the underlying available energy in a space;
the individual Gua connected to that sector;
the Earthly branches [animal signs] as they connect to the Year Pillar of the BaZi chart.
Fu Yin is therefore not simply “double good” or “double bad.” It is an amplification of what is already present.
This supports the Ding You theme of the month [Part 1 newsletter] which focuses on consolidation, refinement, completing unfinished work and strengthening systems, relationships or strategies that are already working.
The danger lies in complacency, repeating poor decisions or remaining on a familiar path simply because it feels comfortable.
This is also why we should not automatically activate a favourable sector with water, fire or movement simply because the annual and monthly stars appear auspicious.
In a Fu Yin month, activation can intensify the existing Qi, so the underlying natal chart and the actual condition of the sector matter even more.
The question for September is therefore not only “is this a good star” but rather “what exactly am I strengthening by using this sector that can carry through to 2027?”
#1 White Star, Centre
Location: Centre Palace – the stabilizing core of the entire property
Star quality: Star 1 is connected to noble or helpful people. Its intrinsic constructive qualities include intellect, thought and knowledge. The #1 White Star supports activities to cultivate intelligence, knowledge, creation of ideas, building connections as well as being the noble person, and receiving assistance from helpful people. In the Centre, its influence forms part of the general background energy affecting the whole property.
Usage: Treat the center as the stabilising core of the property. Keep it open, orderly and unobstructed rather than trying to force a directional activation.
In 2026 it is a useful background influence for receiving assistance, making connections, accessing advice and improving clarity. Because the star occupies the centre, its influence is more general than sector specific.
September Fu Yin, 1–1
The annual #1 is repeated by the monthly #1, so the existing themes become stronger. September reinforces learning, thinking, connections and the need to use knowledge well.
#2 Black Star, Northwest
Location: Northwest, 292.5° to 337.5°
Star quality: Unfavourable in the 2026 annual chart. Its principal 2026 expression is illness, stress and instability. Star #2 in an annual or monthly chart, can still carry health sensitivity, physical wellbeing concerns and the potential for instability when negatively activated. Care is required with prolonged use of the Northwest, particularly where the natal Feng Shui chart is already weak or there is Sha Qi in the Northwest area [internally or externally].
Usage: Do not treat the Northwest as a primary activation sector. Keep disturbance low, especially drilling, hacking, renovation and unnecessary movement. Metal is the appropriate elemental control where required.
In 2026 health and wellbeing require more attention when this sector is heavily used. The sector can also produce instability or poor judgement when aggravated. Pregnant individuals should avoid spending excessive time here.
September Fu Yin, 2–2
The doubled #2 brings the focus strongly onto consequences and responsibility. Decisions made now may affect far more than the immediate situation. Consider the effect on family, employees, partners and those who depend upon you.
Whatever comes from a place of conviction can easily become stubbornness. Leadership therefore requires the willingness to reconsider a decision when new information becomes available.
Think beyond the immediate 2026 result. Build for the long term and take responsibility for what your decisions create.
#3 Jade Star, West
Location: West, 247.5° to 292.5°
Star quality: Unfavorable in 2026 [Star 3 is a Wood star, and the West is a Metal sector]. Star 3 governs speech, language and assertiveness, but when untimely its expression shifts toward arguments, disputes, gossip and possible legal complications.
Usage: Avoid using the West for sensitive negotiations, confrontational meetings or emotionally charged discussions. If the sector must be used, keep communication precise and deliberate.
In 2026 careless speech can escalate quickly. Misunderstandings, quarrels, reputational friction and unnecessary disputes are the main risks. The same verbal force can still be useful in fields that require controlled argument, advocacy or competitive performance.
September Fu Yin, 3–3
The doubled #3 can confront us with information or circumstances that challenge what we previously believed. Be ready for unexpected truths, changes or difficult conversations which may initially feel disruptive. The purpose is not simply to create more conflict, but an opportunity to increase perspective, resilience and the capacity to deal with a larger reality. Open discussions but do not argue for the sake of arguing.
Do not react only to the initial shock. Allow uncomfortable information to expand your understanding before deciding how to respond.
#4 Green Star, Northeast
Location: Northeast, 22.5° to 67.5°
Star quality: Star #4 supports academic work, learning, creativity and relationship harmony.
Usage: Suitable for studying, writing, research, design, idea development and other work requiring concentration or creative intelligence.
In 2026 the Northeast is the useful learning and development sector. Star 4 can improve mental engagement, creative output and relationship connection. Its less constructive side appears as distraction, inconsistency or relationship complications when the surrounding forms or natal chart are poor.
September Fu Yin, 4–4
The doubled #4 strengthens the ability to step above immediate problems and see the bigger picture. Information by itself is not enough. September favours analysing information, identifying patterns and understanding how different pieces fit together.
This is particularly useful for activities involving strategy, study, planning and complex problem solving.
Gain perspective before reacting. The higher the viewpoint, the easier it becomes to distinguish genuine problems from distracting noise.
#5 Yellow Star, South
Location: South, 157.5° to 202.5°
Star quality: Strongly unfavourable. This is the annual Calamity Star, associated with disruption, setbacks, accidents, health problems and financial instability. The #5 Earth is the major Calamity Star. It is associated with disruption, setbacks, accidents, health problems, poor judgment, financial instability and unexpected obstacles.
The South should remain quiet and undisturbed during 2026.
If it has been accidentally activated, the Joey Yap School of Feng Shui only uses the physical application of a Metal Cure to weaken Star 5 [Earth].
If you have not yet mitigated the Star 5 at the beginning of the year, or it has been accidentally activated, then the suitable remedy for Star 5 would be a real and physical Metal Cure.
Why Use Real Metal Objects? Why not Water or Fire?
Because Earth produces Metal and Metal weakens the Earth Star 5.
Using water as a mitigation element will weaken the Metal and not the Earth.
Using Fire will further strengthen the Star 5 Earth.
Solution: 6 Heavy Metal Objects [the amount of 6 is used as it is representative of the home base of Metal - Qian Gua - which is placed directly in contact with the Earth to weaken the expression of Star 5.
Remember that this does not remove the Star 5.
The same rule still applies until the 3rd of February 2027:
Do Not Activate It or Use this Sector unnecessarily.
Usage: Keep the South quiet and dormant. Avoid renovation, drilling, construction, major furniture movement and deliberate activation. Only real metal objects or elements is used as the standard elemental control in Joey Yap's 2026 guidance.
2026 outlook: This is the principal sector to avoid disturbing in 2026. Problems can show as delays, breakdowns, poor judgement, financial pressure, accidents or illness. The South also contains Tai Sui in 2026, which makes unnecessary disturbance even less advisable.
September Fu Yin, 5–5
The doubled #5 adds another important warning, exposure creates vulnerability.
Visibility can attract opportunity, but excessive visibility can also attract competition, envy, scrutiny and people who may want access to what you have built.
September is therefore not the month to advertise every success, reveal every strategy or unnecessarily expose financial or personal information.
Protect what you have built. Be visible where visibility creates opportunity but remain discreet where exposure creates unnecessary risk.
#6 White Star, North
Location: North, 337.5° to 22.5°
Star quality: Favourable annual star for career and authority. It supports leadership, recognition, discipline, status and executive capacity.
Usage: Use the North quietly for planning, focused work, leadership development, budgeting and strategic thinking.
Do not physically activate the sector with a water or fire feature, because the 2026 Three Killings occupy the North, with the Year Breaker in North 2.
In 2026 the North is a good sector to use for activities to strengthen authority, career focus and decision making through disciplined effort. The star is useful, but the sector is afflicted, so the benefit comes from calm occupancy rather than renovation or aggressive activation. Avoid high stakes contracts, major property decisions and serious emotional confrontations here.
September Fu Yin, 6–6
The doubled #6 places greater emphasis on direction and responsibility.
Freedom to choose does not automatically produce progress. Before committing to a direction, ensure that you have the resources, skills, finances and resilience required to complete the journey.
Ambition needs structure.
Know where you are going before accelerating. Direction, preparation and disciplined execution turn freedom into meaningful progress
#7 Red Star, Southwest
Location: Southwest, 202.5° to 247.5°
Star quality: Unfavorable in 2026, the Metal Star 7 is used constructively for communication and persuasion, while its untimely side is associated with discord, loss, betrayal, accidents and security concerns. The #7 relates strongly to communication, persuasion and verbal ability. Its negative expression includes disagreement, betrayal, theft, loss, broken trust and conflict arising through communication.
Usage: Do not make this a primary sector for important activities. If it is already heavily used, keep communication controlled, protect valuables and intellectual property, and scrutinise financial agreements carefully.
In 2026 the main risks are conflict, theft or loss, misplaced trust and sharp verbal exchanges. Communication based professions may still access the star's persuasive quality, but the sector requires restraint rather than aggressive activation.
September Fu Yin, 7–7
The doubled #7 makes words particularly important.
Every promise creates an obligation. Every agreement consumes time, money, manpower or energy.
Overcommitting can create confusion, broken promises and reputational damage.
Communication therefore needs to become more precise.
Do not promise more than you can deliver. Reputation is built through commitments that are actually fulfilled and delivered, not through impressive promises.
#8 White Star, East
Location: East, 67.5° to 112.5°
Star quality:
The #8 supports prosperity, assets, material growth and financial opportunity. More fundamentally, it represents productivity and the ability to create tangible value through effort and resources.
Usage: A strong sector for work, financial planning, business development, sales activity and projects connected with income or asset growth. Dato Wira Joey Yap identifies the East as the best 2026 sector to activate for financial opportunities and growth.
In 2026 the East is one of the strongest practical sectors of the year. It favours income generation, business opportunities, asset building and prosperity, provided the property's natal chart and external forms do not undermine the sector.
September Fu Yin, 8–8
The doubled #8 asks whether effort is actually producing value.
Working harder is not automatically better. Technology, delegation, automation and better systems may produce the same or better result with fewer resources.
September therefore supports improving productivity rather than merely increasing workload.
Do not confuse effort with effectiveness. Work hard where hard work creates value but use better systems when they provide a more efficient route to the same result.
#9 Purple Star, Southeast
Location: Southeast, 112.5° to 157.5°
Star quality: Favourable and timely in Period 9. It represents and supports investment, promotion, visibility, recognition, advancement, innovation and future growth. The #9 is the timely Period 9 star and supports these activities. It also magnifies whatever it encounters.
Usage: Use actively for promotion, visibility, business planning, innovation, future focused projects and activities intended to create longer term gains.
In 2026 the Southeast is a strong sector for expansion, recognition and opportunities that grow into the future. It supports reputation, advancement and investment potential. Because #9 magnifies what it encounters, the natal Flying Star chart still matters before stronger activation is applied. The risk is overworking, creating stress and tension and not everybody is necessarily wanting to go in the direction that you wish to go.
September Fu Yin, 9–9
The doubled #9 intensifies opportunity and visibility.
The promotion, important client, leadership opportunity or moment of recognition may arrive before you feel completely ready.
September therefore places unusual importance on preparation.
Continue developing knowledge, skills and competence before the opportunity appears so when it does, you are ready.
Prepare before the spotlight arrives. Opportunity rewards readiness far more effectively than intention.
